Rafael Cerato returns to Solomun’s Diynamic for a new three-tracker, the ‘Agapo EP’, a warm, heady, and deeply atmospheric collection that fits right into the label’s long-standing identity.

Since its earliest days, Diynamic’s had this whole warm, slightly emotional deep house identity, from Solomun’s own early output to the label’s most defining releases, and this EP sits comfortably inside that lineage. Cerato understands the assignment, delivering music that’s full of texture and feeling without losing sight of the dancefloor.

Title track ‘Agapo’ is the obvious highlight here, a slowly unfolding piece of melodic house that carries a genuine sense of longing, its main motif floating above a rolling, hypnotic groove. ‘Blush’ keeps the mood sultry and intimate, with delicate synth work and a deep, seductive bassline that feels made for dimly lit rooms. ‘That Hits’ is the flattest thing on the EP by a wide margin, leaning on a more straightforward rhythmic approach that, while functional, lacks the emotional pull of its companions.

Still, the EP as a whole’s a very strong addition to Diynamic’s catalog, and ‘Agapo’ alone is worth the price of admission. Cerato continues to prove why he’s one of the most reliable names in this corner of the scene.
